Here’s something a bit more… recent. This is Scratcheye. Made this guy a month or two back for a DnD campaign. (Yes, I know, I’m a huge dork. Deal with it.)

Physical design was essentially an update of Sirius, the character from my last post. Funny thing is, the Sirius art is two or three years old. That’s how little my art’s changed. This is what happens when you don’t practice, kids!

Anyway, art was based on an old design, but name, personality, and backstory were new for the DnD campaign, which never really took off due to some scheduling conflicts with the players. I like DnD all right, but I don’t think I’ve ever finished a campaign. Ah well. Add Scratcheye into my pantheon of unrealized ideas.

By the way, everything I’ve posted was made on the freeware vector art program Inkscape. Most likely, everything I post is going to be from Inkscape, unless I suddenly decide to get a new program.

Probably not going to ever post any of my pencil sketches, because they’re essentially doodles, and usually drawn on lined paper. No one needs to see that.

Last one from that aborted Order of the Stick-inspired fantasy comic. I mean, most of my art is OotS-inspired, because I’m a bad artist and can only make cartoony stick figures look halfway decent, but the comic’s content and themes were OotS-inspired. Or rather, would have been, if I ever actually did the damn thing.

Completely deserved self-deprecation aside, this is Sirius, a gnoll. He was intended to be one of the main characters, and was my personal favorite of the designs. He had a complicated history, orphaned at a young age and raised by a human man. After his adoptive father’s death, Sirius devoted himself to protecting the man’s daughter, never knowing that his adoptive father was among those who wiped out his actual family and their pack.

I drew sketches of the adoptive father and girl, as well as several other other characters, but never settled on designs. Only these five made it to the digital design stage.

Another pair of characters from that same aborted fantasy comic. These two are Adrian and Giselle, a brother-sister team of knights. Giselle was a responsible, by-the-rules, paladinny type, while her younger brother Adrian was more of a laid back goofball.

Wanted my tumblr to have a little more content, so I dug up some character designs from a comic I wanted to do. It never got off the ground, mostly because I had a lot of ideas for characters and not a lot of original ideas for story. Aborted ideas may be a common theme in my upcoming posts.

In any case, these two are Marcus and B’Narg. The easiest way to describe them is that they’re basically an interpretation of Han Solo and Chewbacca in a Dungeons and Dragons-type atmosphere.

Style is heavily influenced by Rich Burlew’s Order of the Stick.
